Greetings By Designated Pastor
I would like to introduce myself to you, the congregation of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. I am the Reverend Barry L. Spatz. I was born and raised in Centre Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. I worked in the family flower business. I also worked on our family homestead, 260 acres, 2800 laying chickens and 120 milking cows. I am a graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School. In 1979 I was a partner in the glass business with my father-in-law for 22 years. I returned to Albright College graduating in December, 2005, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology. I entered the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, in August 2006. I received my Master of Divinity on May 21, 2010. I was ordained in July 2010 at my home church, Salem Belleman’s Church, Mohrsville, PA.
August 1, 2010, I accepted the call to Jacob’s-Outwood Lutheran Parish, Pine Grove, PA. I have become involved with the Pine Grove community by serving within the Pine Grove Council of Churches. I have been activity in Lutheran Disaster Response Team and Spiritual Partners. I have served on Synod Council of NEPS.
I enjoy helping various organizations within the community by supporting events and especially cooking.
Cooking for me is a wonderful hobby and a great stress relief.
I am honored to receive the vote as your congregation’s Designated Pastor. I will attempt to be available to whatever needs and requests that you as a congregation and individuals may require assistance. I know that I will not be able to be the pastoral presence the Schoenleber’s have been for your congregation, but together we will come together to meet and grow as a congregation to the glory of God.
I would like to explain that Jacob’s-Outwood congregation still have priority to my pastoral presence, but please know that I will do everything possible to meet whatever needs arise to the best of my abilities.
I look forward to getting to know the community of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the days and weeks to come.
Please know that you are in my daily thoughts and prayers as we begin this new phase of our congregation’s life and ministry.
